MESSKO® MFLOC 2.0
Reliable Flow Monitoring for Transformer Cooling Systems
Monitor the oil or water flow in transformer cooling circuits and detect malfunctions at an early stage. The MESSKO® MFLOC® 2.0 provides reliable indication and signaling of flow conditions in various transformer applications.
How it works
A paddle installed in the flow channel acts as a resistance within the cooling circuit. When flow is present, the paddle is deflected and its movement is transmitted via a magnetic coupling to the indication pointer. Electrical signals can be generated via microswitches to indicate the operating status of the cooling system.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
What is the function of the MFLOC 2.0?
The MESSKO® MFLOC 2.0 flow indicator monitors the coolant flow in a transformer cooling circuit. It detects whether the pump is operating and indicates the flow condition mechanically and electrically.
How does the measurement principle work?
The device uses a paddle located in the cooling circuit. The coolant flow presses the paddle against an end stop. This movement is transmitted via a magnetic coupling to the indicator, which displays the flow condition and actuates the switching contacts.
How is the pump status signaled?
The pump status (PUMP ON / PUMP OFF) is displayed mechanically on the indicator dial and transmitted via two permanently installed changeover contacts (micro-switches).
Which cooling media can be used?
The MFLOC 2.0 can be used with water, mineral insulating oil, and various alternative insulating fluids.
Is adjustment required for different pipe sizes or flow conditions?
No adjustment is required. The MFLOC 2.0 is designed to cover common pipe diameters and flow directions without the need for paddle size adjustment or recalibration.
What electrical connection options are available?
The device can be connected via a terminal box with M20x1.5 cable gland or alternatively via ANSI plug or MIL plug, depending on the version.
Can the device be replaced during operation?
Yes. Due to the separation of sensor and indicator using magnetic coupling, the indicator can be replaced without opening the cooling circuit or interrupting transformer operation.
In which environments can the MFLOC 2.0 be used?
The device is suitable for indoor and outdoor use and operates reliably within an ambient temperature range of -40 °C to +80 °C. Versions with extended corrosion protection (C5H or CX) are available for harsh or offshore environments.
