FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Which installation positions are possible at the transformer?

There are three ways of installing the on-load tap-changer (OLTC):
1. Installation horizontally below the transformer cover.
2. Installation horizontally on the transformer side wall.
3. Installation vertically on the transformer side wall.

Is it possible to modify the transition resistors after delivery?

No. ECOTAP® VPD® has glued connections, therefore a later modification is not possible..

Does the ECOTAP® VPD® allow single bridging regulation?

No, ECOTAP® VPD® has a linear regulation. Single bridging or double bridging is a regulation used with OCTCs.

Why should the underside of the transformer cover not be painted in the area near the sealing module?

When the underside of the transformer is painted, the finish might get damaged and start crumbling because of being squeezed when attaching the seal flange to the transformer cover, which might lead to corrosion and a rotting effect. When only a primer is applied to the surface, this can be avoided.

Is communication available?

ECOTAP® VPD® has signaling contacts for error and ready. Beyond these signals communication is available via MODBUS RTU, further communication options are available.

How long does a tap-change take?

A switching operation takes approx. 420 milli-seconds. All three seconds an operation can be initiated.

Problem with the installation? No problem at all!
